Midnight Sun Half-marathun

Charise and I ran the half-marathon yesterday!!! I finished it in 2 hours and 22 minutes! So deciding!
Connie ran the Full marathon in just over 5 hours.
Unfortunately, I got a bit of a blood blister on my pinky toe. Eew!
Heidi made me this sweet poster, look at it closely. I told her that I would probably be taking about 3 hours, so she took a little nap and slept through my finish. Tee-hee. Thanks so much for coming Heids!!

Took this picture just after midnight last night. I went to bed around 1:30 and it was still light! Welcome back to Alaska!

PS, finished my chem class (yeah!!!), I'll find out later this week how I did.

AZ airport rendezvous

Hans, Holly, and baby Kelsie brought me Cafe Rio dinner for my brief (very brief) layover in AZ. Kelsie said my name!!!! You are soooo great!!! I love you!

Provo friends

Tye Viehweg and I hung out pretty much every day over the last two weeks. We went off-roading in his Jeep up American Fork Canyon, got totally muddy! I have a couple of pictures I took with my phone, but I can't get them to upload. I'll try again later. We also went to a Secondhand Serenade concert 2 Wednesday's ago, went wakeboarding a couple of times with some of his friends, who are also great, but my camera battery was dead! He also has a sweet sport touring motorcycle, we went up to Sundance a few days ago. So fun! He is awesome!

Me and my roommate Ashlie Stitt from NY...crazy girl!

Mindy Skousen and I totally hit it off. Incredible girl, we had so much fun..."Say that into the microphone..." My mommy really liked her too. =)

This is why we're hot...

I went to visit Anna and Matthew several weeks ago, and am just now putting the picture on. Oops. Anna and Matthew came to visit me a couple of weeks ago...so great! Banana, I'm glad you're feeling better.

Back in Provo...

WHY you ask!?!?  I'm taking a chemistry class to help me get into PA school this next year. Let me tell you, it is weird being back here!! I never thought I'd be back here, especially not taking classes again. I moved into a house with some great girls, the house is close to the Provo River trail so I can train for the 1/2 marathon in June!!!  Reece, are you training?

I got me a computer!!!! I've been needing one, and I will need one for school next year so I made the "investment", and am very excited about it. I got an ibook, which should be everything that I want it to be, and more! =)

I went hiking yesterday with my new friend Darrin Humphreys (I'm a big fan) and some of his friends. I only knew him, but, as I am want to do, quickly became friends with all of them, there were about 15 of us. We hiked up to the Y then up the canyon to the right of the Y. It was a great hike and I got burnt to a crisp. =) Darrin is to my left, keeping his distance...I was super sweaty...which is super hot! =) It was roasty toasty out there, probably in the 90's, and of course we started around 2 in the afternoon...note to self, do not start a hike in the afternoon on a hot day.

So, I've been hard at work, nose to the grind-stone, for the last, is it 3 weeks already?! Yes, it has been...how quickly time flies...seems like just yesterday she was cuttin' her teeth on Jim-Dear's slippers, and here she is, a full-grown lady...
Right then, my chemistry class has been pretty good. I've been studying my brains out so hopefully it will pay off and I will get a good grade. It has been a little rough, but I'm remembering quite a bit and I've had a lot of help from the spirit for which I am SO grateful!

Well my dears, that's my time in Utah in a nutshell. Love you all!

New York, New York

Elsa, Blair, Jacob, Sean, Sammy and I took a little adventure into the big NYC. We even went by train. 1st we visited the Eiffel Tower...um, I mean Empire State Building. Then walked up Broadway to Times Square where we met up with our friend Dana, used to be Steadman from Alaska, and her husband Ryan and 3 girls. They joined us for a jaunt up through Central Park.

We visited Belvedere Castle, and the Turtle Pond. There were so many people everywhere.

Jacob and I rode the Carousel.
After Central Park, we went to the Museum of Ntural History. We didn't get to stay for the after-hours Dinosaur coming to life show. Sad. But it was too exciting still. I'll post more soon.

Packed in there like pickles!

Charise, Steven and I drove up to Anchorage to pick Heidi and Kierstin up (to mother, father, and Daniel's surprise!!!) Oh, also to Kierstin's surprise, she thought that I had flown out 30 minutes before they landed! HA!

Anyway, instead of taking Charise's car, which is a bit bigger, we took the camry, with passengers totalling 5, and suitcases totalling 6. This should give you a good idea of what it was like...

Going away, for a bit...

Some friends from work threw a going away party for me. From Charise going clockwise, moi, Kris(it was at her house), Carolyn, and Rachel. There were a few more people, but the camera's didn't get pulled out fast enough.

We went to Kammi's Junior Prom, she looked like a princess!

Kammi with her date, Reece Nunez.

Due to popular demand...

I've decided to update my blog. I've added posts from newest to oldest starting from the top, so if you want to go in chronological order, I would recommend scrolling down a ways and moving up. As you like.

I thought it would only be appropriate to post this picture I took just today of me in my skirt and scarf Lisa brought back for me from Thailand. So beautiful, only accentuated by my beautiful pose, of course. =)

POST'S EVERYONE!!!...movie?

Happy Easter!!!

We had such a lovely Easter. Mum, da, Kammi and Daniel came over to join G'ma, Amy, Bear, Magster and myself. The unfortunate part was that the water had stopped running completely Saturday night because the wire from the pump to the electrical outlet in the house busted, so we only had a cooler of water Charise had brought over (I don't know if I've mentioned that Charise is my roommate, and has been for the last couple of months...very fun). So, we enjoyed our Easter Feast on paper plates. It didn't change the taste of the food, it was still Belicious! (PS, the water is working again...what a blessing. It really made me think about food, and water storage, and how important it is. If all of the electricity went out on the peninsula for a couple of days, we wouldn't have even had the cooler! Good, clean water is so precious!)

Charise let me wear her cute Easter dress. Don't you love it?! I do!

Welcome to AK, Bear and Geegee

Aunt Karen and Maggie came up to stay with us and help Grandma McCubbins and Amy while Lisa, Michael, Courtland and Dreamie went to Thailand. We went for a walk on the beach and found all kinds of pretty rocks. Maggie found all kinds of pretty mud. =) It was so fun having them here!

The King and I

Before I left for California, I was helping with the community play, The King and I, and I got to watch it when I got back. I was in charge of making the king's wives hoop dresses stay up when they bowed to the king, subsequently flashing the english captain. Very funny! I did it by sewing hoops of PVC pipe to their hoop skirts, then, attached a piece of elastic from the back of the hoop to one of their legs so they could walk and dance, but when they bowed it would keep the skirt from flopping forward. This is me with my girls in their dresses, then bowing. Oh, my! It looked better when the lights were on and they weren't so cramped, but you get the idea. =)

Los Angeles...Feb 20-24th

I went down to LA and hung out with Paul. We had a good time playing at the beach, going running, watching the lunar eclipse, eating authentic Mehican taco's, riding rides at Six Flags, and catching me up on Lost! We went out for BBQ chicken salad one night, and Paul did a caricature of me on my plate w/ BBQ sauce...hilarious. For the inquiring minds...I haven't heard from him since I was there...make of it what you will.

I spent a day down at Western University...went on a tour, attended a couple of classes with the PA students who are in their first year. The students said things like "Western has the best program!" I have to admit, I really was more excited about the program there, a lot because of the way the students acted. 2 things I have noticed about PA students though: 1. there seem to be generally more women than men, and 2. those men are generally short. Interesting.

San Francisco

I stayed with Mary and Wilson Lee and their adorable children for a night! We had such a great time! Thanks so much!

I interviewed at Touro University on Mare Island in San Francisco the next morning. I didn't have the best impression of the school and area...a bit run down. Though, because it was on an old navy base, my classes would have been in the old officer's dining hall! Woot-woo!
My interview lasted from 8:00am to 4:30pm. When I asked the current students what they thought about the school, they said, things like "um, yeah, it's a pretty good school". They also said to expect coming out with about $140,000 in debt. That made me really excited to go there. ;) I enjoyed the interview process...it's always so fun to expound on all of my incredible attributes; I'm handsome, regal, majestic, yes, yes, loveable, a cuddly face...

I am yukon woman!

So, the day before I left for my trip it had snowed all night and the wind was blowing 60+ mph. You can't see it, but the snow was flying horizontally! I was cruisin' (more like crawlin') down the driveway, turned the corner, and proptly got myself stuck. I had to dig my way out. Fortunately I had my ski goggles, gloves and pants.
I had a long layover in Seattle on my way down to San Francisco. I got to spend the day w/ Daniel. Too bad he was puky and couldn't go to church with me and his dad...we had a nice time anyway. =)

Do-si-do your neighbor

I went with my friends Dan and Katy for a little Contra dancing tonight. Very fun. It's like square dancing, only you are in 2 lines and change partners after each step sequence, which a caller calls. The pics aren'e the best quality, but you get the idea, kinda. =) Once a month. Next one will be Feb, I want to say 18th, if anyone wants to go!

When the wind blows...

Trees fall over...into the driveway. I went at them (one tree pulled two more down with it) with Grandma McCubbins' saw. As you can see, the saw was visited by the rust fairy. Needless to say, it was easier to break the dry branches off than saw them. I AM MIGHTY!! Dad came to the rescue w/ a chainsaw. Kammi, Daniel, Charise and I "re-planted" branches in the snow. I'm thinking they won't be growing in the spring.

What do you do in Alaska for fun?

Dan Pascucci and Chris Pepper jammin (w/ the salmon) at Veronica's open mic night, which I frequent, every Thursday night.

Charise and I went out for a long winter walk on the beach...in -10 degree temps. We played, slipped and slid on the ice-mud lumps. Nature makes the most incredible ice sculptures...Iwakami, you ain't got nothing on this!

Happy Birthday to meeeeee...

It's the big 28!!!! How am I so blessed? What a great age to be. I'm really excited about my 28th year! Those of you who have been 28, tell me about your favorite part of your 28th year. If you've not reached 28 yet, let me know what you'd like to do at age 28.
This year...hmm. I think I'd like to run another 1/2 marathon. Hopefully I'll start PA school. I plan to go on many a hikes and it'd be great to get a bike and go biking. Who knows what else 28'll bring!

Michelle and Jeremiah's Wedding

I realized I hadn't posted any pics of the wedding. They got married on Dec 22nd at the Anchorage temple. They had their reception in Kenai on the 29th. Congrats kids!
